User Experience Design

We consider great usability to be a baseline requirement for web applications and web design. Honestly, there is far more involved in engaging users/visitors/customers than simply making sure they can find things and perform particular transactions. Wouldn't you love to be the team behind the next Facebook, YouTube, Ebay, Skype, Twitter, Wikipedia? These websites and web applications all deliver great experiences that improve people's lives. And look at how successful they've become by paying attention to the user experience!

Our Skills & Experience

Our greatest skill is that we know how to listen. Plus, we have exceptional knowledge of both user interface development frameworks and techniques and user interface and experience design:

  • WebXpress is frequently approached by other development companies to assist them with the effective use of rich internet applications such as Ajax, Microsoft Silverlight and WPF, Adobe Flex and AIR.
  • We have completed many successful projects specifically related to enhancing user experience design, for example the Deciphertel Easy-Telecalc, an online bill analysis tool that was designed to be very fast and very easy to use. By entering a sample of call data from the existing phone bill and the new rates to compare, users can generate a professional bill analysis report in under 5 minutes. This report can be emailed or downloaded and printed. The unique thing about this online tool was that the client wanted visitors to be able to use it without using a mouse! We achieved this.

We live and breathe serious user experience development. From the initial process of discovering the sweet spot between the user's needs and the business goals to deployment, we leverage the industry's most respected best practices, including:

  • Expert User Interface Reviews
  • Design Walkthroughs
  • User Profiling
  • User Testing
  • Task Analysis
  • Wireframes

Our Process & Approach

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but unfortunately user experience design is not a discrete, single-step process or activity. It will not solve all your problems with a single research study. It would be remiss of us not to remind clients that user experience design must be an ongoing effort, a process of continually learning about users, responding to their behaviours, and evolving the web application or website.

Our process incorporates:

  • Planning
  • Research
  • Information Architecture
  • Interaction Design
  • User Testing

...and, we believe, the finest documentation in the industry to create solutions that balance user needs, business objectives, and technical capability.

We really are well known for cutting edge design documentation including flows, wireframes, and specifications. And we are one of the very few software engineering companies in Queensland that has a strong track record of combining experience design into the software development process.
